Post-Processing

When browsing the Internet for photography inspiration, do you ever notice that some photographers seem to have a certain style about their photos? Sometimes they have a vintage feel or maybe high-contrast black and white look. Most "style" is achieved in post-process... or in other words, the editing that takes place after the actual photo shoot.

Sure, a nice DSLR camera can get you great photos from the get go, but great photographers insist on post-processing for perfection of their desired outcome.
I snuck in a few pictures when we were playing in the driveway the other day. It's rather hard to get boys to sit still, but we somehow managed. And by somehow, I might mean cookie bribes. :)  The grandparents have been bugging me for an updated photo so it was necessary!

This is real life, my favorite way to photograph. Sure, a posed picture is necessary here and there (and for the grandparents) BUT real life together is what I want to remember.

Both of my boys enjoy playing with their Daddy's old skateboard. Lucky for me they are pretty careful and only really sit on it or push it. I'm sure that won't last forever though!

Quick Visit Before the Storm

Yesterday my husband went to an evening conference that was out of town (only about 30 minutes away), so that meant that we were on our own for the night. We decided that we were due for a quick visit to Grandma's house. The weather was warm and sunny... but of course, once we got there started to turn a little cold and cloudy. But... we made the most of it.

And we still wore our visors just in case the sun decided it wanted to return for a bit. :-)
My husband doesn't like this picture, by the way. He thinks our son looks nerdy -- but I think it's hilarious. I reassured him he looks much, much cooler in the upcoming picture. Ha!

We just played with a few yard games. And some soccer with a volleyball. And some volleyball with the volleyball. What can I say, we were feeling creative?

I love this next series of images of Grandma and Kasen interacting.

The wind started picking up...

So we snapped a few more pictures...

... and when the sky turned dark gray we headed inside. It was fun to run around and enjoy some fresh air, even if it was short lived!

BFFs

Check out these two beautiful girls! Lauren & Emily. They have been best friends for many years now.

A friend is one that knows you as you are,
understands where you have been,
accepts what you have become,
and still, gently allows you to grow.
– William Shakespeare

The girls visited Springfield over their spring break, making memories the entire time. Emily (a self proclaimed picky eater) tried sushi for the first time ever! She hated it. Lauren (a sushi lover) tried octopus shishimi and actually really liked it! You win some, you lose some.

While they were here we also had a mini photo session.
Here is a sampling for your enjoyment! Enjoy!

Kitchen Love

Ok, so I now fully believe that every child should have a vintage kitchen picture with their Grandma(s). Grandmas and grandchildren are likely going to bond over food -- fixing lunch, making cookies, or in this case - eating blueberries!
